Overview

DEFAULT

Apocalypse Rising consists of three (3) maps, and features multiple types of enemies. This guide will teach you the basics on elementary survival tactics, defensive combat situations, and offensive combat situations. As most people who reach this guide already can play the game, the guides will NOT teach you how to play (there is already an in-game tutorial for that, along with dozens of videos).

Without further much to do, let's get started with ELEMENTARY TACTICS.

Elementary Survival Tactics

DEFAULT

There are six (6) elementary tactics for general gameplay that can be followed by individual players. These are (from frequency) Bellum se ipsum alet (English: The war will feed itself) , Guerrilla Warfare, Limited Alliances, Bait and Bleed, Disinformation, and Fortification.

Bellum se ipsum alet: This tactic involves the immediate traveling to the nearest large installation or concentration of buildings in sight, and collecting food, water, utilities, and weapons. After achieving the necessary amount of survival goods, players may then continue to conduct other tactics shown below.

Guerrilla Warfare: This tactic involves the avoidance of large installations or concentration of buildings in order to minimize chances of entering combat situations, as such locations attract other players, and, to a lesser extent, contains zombies. Players engaging in Guerrilla Warfare conduct combat only when necessary and tend to visit only isolated areas for the collection of survival goods.

Limited Alliances: This tactic involves the making of an in-game team to assist in coordinated attack, and often open up a large amount of possibilities for teamwork and effective combat. However, such a tactic entails its own risks (hence, "limited") as betrayal, manipulation, and, to a lesser extent, cowardice can occur.

Bait and Bleed: This tactic involves watching combat situations between two opposing players (either accidental or set up) and entering the situation only when one player has been killed or if the fight has deteriorated into a stalemate. Entering the situation can include rushing into the firefight, firing at a distance (in a stalemate, you may kill one of the players without the other player realizing his opponent was killed), or attacking when the victor is looting the defeated's body.

Disinformation: This tactic involves communicating via the Global Chat to other players, attempting to entice them into a position where you may be able to ambush them successfully. Examples of disinformation attempts include claims of releasing weapons at a certain location, lack of ammo and requesting more at a certain location, or claims of large amounts of loot at a certain location. The majority of new players often are deceived by disinformation.

Fortification: Rarely conducted nowadays, this tactic involves collecting large amounts of building supplies and an entrencher, and choosing a location to lock down and stay. This results in passive gameplay, and is no longer conducted commonly as fortifications set up by a player do not travel with them if they leave the game and reenter into a different server. The player is also more susceptible to ambushes upon leaving the fortification. Mobile fortifications are more common, and involve collecting only a small amount of building supplies and deploying them while in combat in areas lacking sufficient cover, or if the attacker is firing from an unknown direction.
